The kingdom of Heaven

I find this to be an interesting story and so I thought I would share it!

“After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of Him to every town and place where He was about to go. He told them, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest field. Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves. Do not take a purse or bag or sandals; and do not greet anyone on the road. When you enter a house, first say, 'Peace to this house.' If a man of peace is there, your peace will rest on him; if not, it will return to you. Stay in that house, eating and drinking whatever they give you, for the worker deserves his wages. Do not move around from house to house. When you enter a town and are welcomed, eat what is set before you. Heal the sick who are there and tell them, 'The kingdom of God is near you.' But when you enter a town and are not welcomed, go into its streets and say, 'Even the dust of your town that sticks to our feet we wipe off against you. Yet be sure of this: The kingdom of God is near.' I tell you, it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom than for that town. Luke 10:1-12"

“Woe to you, Korazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. But it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment than for you. And you, Capernaum, will you be lifted up to the skies? No, you will go down to the depths. Luke 10:13-15"

"He who listens to you listens to me; he who rejects you rejects me; but he who rejects me rejects him who sent me. Luke 10:16"

“The seventy-two returned with joy and said, "Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name." He replied, "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven. Luke 10:17-20"

This is just a portion of what the Jesus taught His disciples. That they were to go and share the good news about the Kingdom of God. I find it neat that they were sent ahead of Him to every town and place where He was about to go, because today we are also called to share the good news of the kingdom and even now He is coming soon. But now the good news this great and glorious hope of the kingdom, is given to all the world. “The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it. Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life. Rev.21:26-27"
Remember, our home is not here on earth(as crazy as that may sound) but He has gone to prepare a place for you and He encourages us to store up treasure in heaven not on earth! If you, like me, believe that is true, why do we still try to build ourselves feeble little kingdoms on this earth? Isn't it so much more important to share His kingdom with those who are willing to receive it.
So rejoice if your name is written in His book, and continue to look forward to His coming. The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest field. Go!

"He who testifies to these things says, "Yes, I am coming soon."
Amen. Come, Lord Jesus."

There is a lot more written in this text so please share what you may have learned!

John, I need to tell you about how much your writing sounds like the bible.

Well Kyle, the truth...if you can keep a secret, is that most of it is from the Bible. Ah... Yes, the B..I..B..L..E.. yes that's the book for me. I stand alone on the word of God. The B..I..B..L..E..

Did you notice that Christ sent them out two by two? Why do you think that is?

It is most likely that 2 by 4's weren't the staple for young jewish carpenters.

KNow why they went out 2 by 2... just my opinion of course... Cause God knows us so well. He knows temptaions that come when your travelling alone - so 1st reason accountability. He knows we get lonely for others that know where were coming from, share common experiences etc.. 2nd reason, companionship. He knows that when we are alone and preaching etc... if we have no one that knows us to keep us in check, we can start to believe what other's that don't know us are saying about us. - #3 reality check. We can also get so full of "our own take on things" so again a spiritual accountability partner is nice, someone to talk things through with. Here's another guy with you that really knows Jesus too, and maybe because of his personality has a different view, or take on a story or event. Has seen God work in different ways than you. #4 larger testimony. And more believable testimony - #5 - by 2 or three witnesses is it established right - so there are 2 instead of one! Just some theories as to the why, but they make sense don't you think?
